OK, I have a few questions for the board. I have a 3.625 stroke forged steel crank for the cleveland. I am debating on going to the 4" crank to get the extra stroke and cubes for HP but this will require a shorter rod than the 3.625. Which is the best to use? Is the longer stroke but shorter rod going to cause trouble or am I better to go with the 3.625 stroke with the longer rod? This will be used with 13.0 to 13.5 compression ratio, A3 heads, H beam rods and excellent quality pistons, roller cam ect. used for drag racing only. Like everyone, wanting horse power but not sacrificing durability. Thanks.

Is this going into a Pinto?? if so, I'd stick with the shorter stroke and longer rods as the weight of the car is not enough to require massive torque output to get it moving.
Is your cleve a 377" inch motor?? if so, then it will be a high revving MONSTER!! with 13-1 CR and a set of aluminum A3's, it should hustle quite good!!
What year Pinto?

Yes, In a 77 Pinto, It will actually be a 369 CI with the 4.030 bore and 3.625 stroke. It runs best of 6.53 with a 1.35 60 ft. without a trans brake thus far with a 306, 10:1 compression, 351 steel head. I figure the Cleveland would really pick it up on the top end which is where it starts to loose ground. I thought while I was doing it, I would go for the 408 but was looking advise. Thanks, Edwin

Sweet! Im kinda partial to Pinto's myself. I have a 1971 Pinto with a 2.3 liter 4cyl. turbo motor that surpises lots of Camaro clowns at the strip.
I have a 1978 Pinto wagon that Im building into a street driven wheelstander with a Cadillac 500" and transaxle from a Eldorado mounted in the rear!
It'll be awhile before its done, but it should make people look!!

Personally, I think 4" is a little much for the short Cleve block. I'm running 3.75 (or is it 3.85)... Anyway, I originally wanted all I could get and I felt that the 4 was a little too long due to rod angle issues and the short deck. In a Windsor, 4 would be more than comfortable.
