Re: T&L ENGINES IN N.C.

If you want an engine built by a Nascar engine builder call Roush/Yates. End of story.

Now if you want a good Ford motor call DSS Racing, Coast High Performance, BES Racing, Jon Kaase, McKeown Motorsport Engineering

Re: T&L ENGINES IN N.C.

The 408 A2 engine is now installed and has been tested. It has much more power than I expected. Holds great oil pressure even when hot. My car is a 74 nova with 3.42 pos and built th350 trans 3000 stall. It has 12" cheater slicks. The motor from T & L dynode 501 hp at 5600 rpms. I going to change tires to MT slicks to get some traction.
T & L just needs to tell people when they will deliver engines correctly. If it is going to be 16 weeks then tell people.
So far the engine runs great.

Buddy had a BAD experience with DSS!

Bought a complete 408 with a Ford Racing Sportsman block, custom pistons, custom cam, AFR 205 heads, etc. It smoked like hell! Took it apart, and the oil pickup was barely on, and the thing didn't have any oil rings installed!!!

After deciding on a further inspection, it had a couple out of round crank journals and a cylinder was low on compression due to a bent valve. (came that way, as he barely ran it)

This was a completely assembled long block that was over $10k!

It was several years ago. Beware, some of these larger outfits that grow fast need to hire new help, and it can take a while to filter out the guys who are inept or just don't care.

Good Luck!

I guess it helps to live fairly closed to the company that's building your engine. I hope you get your parts and you get satisfied soon.

Re: T&L ENGINES IN N.C.

Took the Nova to test and tune day at the local track. Had no problem with engine, but the shade tree tranny job lasted two runs. Engine has to much power for the BF Goodrich drag radials. The car just would not hook. Ordered a TCI th350 super streetfighter and a set of MT 28" et slicks and a molly drive shaft. If every thing comes in, I will update next week.

Re: T&L ENGINES IN N.C.

Just an update on this engine. Monday January 26th marked 44 weeks and still no engine. Although Lloyd seems like a knowledgable good person, he does not appear to be able to meet his delivery commitments. I used Pay Pal with a Visa Card, and disputed the charge, and got a refund from Visa. I'm not sure the engiine ever existed.

Re: T&L ENGINES IN N.C.

update,

Just got back from the track. Engine ran great. The little Nova had a 60' time of 1.663, and a 1/8 7.66 and a 1/4 of 12.055 et. Would have ran in the upper 11's but ran out of gas at the end of the track. I don't have a fuel cell. The engine has not given any problems at all.

P.S. I have ran the dog **** out of this 408, and it is still running great. I hope you guys that are having trouble getting your engines will get them soon. T & L built a good one for me.
