Re: T&L ENGINES IN N.C.

I feel for you guys! It's guys like this that give good engine builders bad reps...I get calls all the time from people that have been taken advantage of or just screwed over. So they are very leary about doing business again. It takes alot of doing to get that trust, even though I never did anything to lose it in the first place.
After those phone calls you can't help but wonder why people do this to other people? Most engine builders have a sense of pride, and take pride in their work so they should also take pride in how they handle their customers.
Hope it gets better for you guys...
Brian

Re: T&L ENGINES IN N.C.

Okay, new development. I called today and spoke to Lloyd who was very polite and courteous to me (Thanks Lloyd). I explained my situation and my feelings on this issue and he was very sympathetic. Like I told him, the fact that I am speaking to him after 5 months of issues isnt very comforting. He listened to me bitch and moan for half an hour before agreeing that the best thing would be to refund my $10,400 deposit and let me go on my way. The way I explained it to Lloyd was the same as I stated in my first post, I cant even be happy now if the motor showed up today. I will always be worried that I may have to actually go back to them for repair, parts, etc and the response will be the same 5 months. Lloyd was very clear that he did not want me to feel like I was forced to continue this transaction and that he didnt want me to spent $12,000 on something that I wouldnt be fully satisfied with. So, on that, he agreed to refund my deposit next week. He promised to contact me on Monday and resolve this financially.

I will keep this thread posted (no pun intended) on the progress of my refund. I'm hoping that Lloyd will keep to his word and I will be posting something nice to say about T & L next week. Although, I still wont have my engine! ;-)

To be continued....

Re: T&L ENGINES IN N.C.

Update from Denmark

Today i pulled the heads ....Again !
I have mailed T&L about the headgasket problems but NO reply.

But i was not ready for the surprice i got when i pulled the lifters up to inspect the cam and the bottom of the lifters.......
one of the lifters is now smaller than the others and the cam is schrap-metal...

Now its ****ing great to live in Denmark !!! NOT ... i cant just go to Lloyd with the engine and say : Here my freind do it one more time becaurse the first time wasnt lucky....

I dont know what the **** ill do if all the bearings are gone.... Maybe book a plane

Re: T&L ENGINES IN N.C.

I feel bad for the many of the folks on this thread. I run GT40s.com and we recently had a thread about T&L engines as well, and many unhappy stories. I happen to live in NC and some of the local car clubs have had some grumblings too.

Good luck to those here that are affected. I hope you get some resolution to the problem.

Ron

Re: T&L ENGINES IN N.C.

Well, I thought I would give a quick update. I've been calling and speaking to Rob at T & L every other day (literally) and he has been great... but still no refund. I keep getting the "Lloyd isn't in right now" or "I'll have him call you back". And of course, I get nowhere.

The newest thing they have me doing is speaking to someone named Holly (the financial person) who supposedly can get me the refund. Well, Holly only works 3 days a week and doesn't seem to be any more effective than Rob or Lloyd. Unless, effective means keeping me at bay. Then it is very effective!

I just hung up the phone with rob who tells me that Holly and Lloyd aren't in yet (keep in mind that it is 10:51am their time). So, Rob says, "Try again in about half an hour". I'll try that I guess.

I've learned that you have 0 (ZERO) power to have anyone or any business do anything they don't want to. Sure, you can call an attorney, etc. but who wants to deal with that?!?! I cant help but wonder, what would they have done if I promised to pay them after I received the motor? How would they make me pay them?

The reality is, I'm looking at contacting a lawyer, flying to NC personally and getting my damn money!!

Good luck to all of you that have recently purchased engines. I would strongly suggest you cancel.... after I get my money first!!

:-)

Re: T&L ENGINES IN N.C.

Here is the thread on T&L at GT40s.com

T&L engines Quality control??? - GT40s.com

Most Ford centric forums have T&L threads - the Lightning Forum, Corral, and more. And the threads aren't all happy unfortunately.

Re: T&L ENGINES IN N.C.

After living in the south for 10 years I learned about the polite tactic used by some called 'Glad Handing'.

In business you get looked square in the eye, and with a firm handshake you are politely lied to through a great big charming smile.

Then you walk away saying - Wow! What a nice guy, a feel as though everything will be fine and you have a new business relationship.

It's a widely used tactic practiced on those who are not southerners.

Since T&L is on e-bay, they must process credit cards.

Do they take credit cards for custom engines build deposits?

If not, bad sign...

If so and you paid your deposit with a one, go to your credit card company and dispute the charge and have them fight for you.

T&L cannot likely afford to be in a position to not process credit cards for payment and with mounting disputes with credit vendors, they will likely act.

Try it!

Re: T&L ENGINES IN N.C.

You cant turn out that many pieces of **** and still stay in business. There are many threads on the net that all have the same story. Amazing there doors are still open.

Good luck getting your refund, I would be surprised if they have that much money in there account.

Re: T&L ENGINES IN N.C.

A word of advice from a Transmission Shop Owner, Dont do it, Dont give these guys any checks, CREDIT CARD ONLY THRU PAY PAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! pay pal will only give you 45 days as a grace period but your credit card company has one year, dont let the chase last that long. That way you can get your money back when you have had heard enough stories and heard enough bull ****. These guys give stroking a new meaning, Lloyd is the ring leader of the big tent, (SPIN DOCTOR) Damage controll, enough bashing, When you buy online you are at the mercy of the seller, for what its worth, spend the extra money and have your engine builtder at home custom build your engine!!!!!!!!!!!
