Re: T&L ENGINES IN N.C.

I had a similar issue with other parts and people. I called a local attorney (called one randomly and they referred me to another that was 'good at that type of dispute'), threw $50 at him with a credit card and he sent a very simple letter that got me a Cashier's Check refund by express mail in three days. Since the lawyer was local to the bad guys, they no longer had me at arm's length, and knew I meant business. I did not get an apology. I don't care.

The letter simply said (roughly by memory) "Mr. Soandso has retained our office to represent him regarding undelivered automotive parts. He has not received the prepaid merchandise nor a refund. We request you or your legal counsel respond with your intentions within 10 days of receipt of this registered letter. Sincerely, ...". Bang. End of story. Took me all of 20 minutes to do the whole thing by phone. There was probably a line of folks in front of me for money. I think I was pushed to the front of the line.

Re: T&L ENGINES IN N.C.

Personally, I would never EVER buy from them... a friend prepaid and engine...(over $8000) as of tomorrow, ONE YEAR and still no engine!!!
"Sorry, we are back logged" "We are waiting for parts" "The builder is sick" "We are waiting for dyno time, it is back logged" Then............. "it is finished, we are crating it today"
2 days later
"It is going on the dyno tomorrow"
WHAT???? One lame excuse after another..... BEWARE

Re: T&L ENGINES IN N.C.

Ok it's me again. The one who ordered the blown 408 from T&L and was told it would be done at the end of Sept. Well still waiting on it. I did make cahnges here and there and added the blower etc so the time I can understand so far. I spoke with Rob last week and he told me it should go on the Dyno this week. Well I will see.. I know I have been told this about 2 times already from Lloyd but we will see. I sure hope it does because it has been quite some time so far. I will continue to keep everyone updated on the quality and time Etc of the engine. I will be SURE to keep posts up over time of the engine and how it runs and all. I will be running it at the drag strip and on the street also so I should put some miles on it pretty quickly. I HOPE AND PRAY after all the bad things I have heard here that it holds up well after spending all that money. I will be sure to keep everyone posted.

Re: T&L ENGINES IN N.C.

You poor buggers!
I brought up this thread with some bench racing buddies, here in Toronto, Can.mainly because i couldn;t believe what T&L are putting you through & guesss what.
3 out of 15 guys had a T & L story!
Seems this goes way back, a few concencious employees leave a company & all thats left are actual engine builders, who may be very talented, but with no business sense.
Loose the people who know how to run a business, not just build engines, or widgets for that matter, and watch it fall to pieces.
I don;t know what i would do, credit card suggestion above is an option, if you sent a cheque, tough one.
Its to bad you can;t ,on mass, just go to their shop & start pulling out what you can, while there is time!
good luck to you guys

Re: T&L ENGINES IN N.C.

Ok I got a call from Lloyd today.
He called to ask what intake I wanted to use. I figured that the engine came with the RPM airgap listed but since it is going to be blown I guess he only figured I wanted to upgrade so he is giving me the super victor at no extra charge. Sounded like they will have it up and going this week so I will FOR SURE keep everyone updated throughout it's life FOR SURE. I am sure most people will be more likely to tell about the bad stuff on a company then if there was something good. Kinda like the news, nothing good but all bad stuff. So far it's just the time and I cannot complain a whole lot about that since I made so many changes. I believe he said they pump out about 7-10 engines a week there. I figured they could do more but that says alot to me that they don't rush through things.

Re: T&L ENGINES IN N.C.

I ordered a bib block Chevrolet stroker engine from them on April 24th of this year. At that time Lloyd said it would take 9 weeks. Last Monday, October 27th was over 7 months. When you call, you talk to Rob on the telephone, and he tries to get answers for you, but lately, there is no explanation. For the last 2 weeks, he says that Lloyd is going to call me, but so far, no communication. I have requested a refund, but so far, no response. I am considering flying to Charlotte, then renting a car and going to their shop to see if my engine really exists
