Engine Balance

Hey guys, newbie here from downunder. Have just bought one of the new Ford Racing 342 strokers but it wasn't until it arrived that I realised I might run into a balance problem. The info on these motors says that it has a 28oz balance factor. The vehicle that I'm putting it into is an Aussie XR8 Falcon that comes fitted with the last of the Explorer Windsor 5.0 that I suspect may have a 50oz balance factor. It becomes an issue as I have to fit the harmonic damper and flexplate from the Falcon. Can I just get the flexplate and damper rebalanced to 28oz or do I drop the crank out and rebalance as an assembly (I have to swap the oil pan anyway), I just hope that I can do all this without having to strip it further to pull pistons and rods, otherwise I would have been better off building the existing engine with a stroker kit.

Hmm, could just go with 28 oz flex and damper.
But a proper balance takes into acount the flex plate/damper/rods/pistons/rings/flex plate/damper.

Just get the correct 28oz damper/flywheel and you will not have to rebalance anything.

The problem is that I have to use the damper off the existing engine for it to work in the car. The Australian Falcon used the last of the Explorer style 5.0 with a unique 50oz damper that has the front pulley integral with the damper as well as the trigger wheel for the EDIS ignition.

junior....damn bro,ure kinda in a pickle,if i were you i would get the 28 oz damp and the expl damp, either pry off the trigger wheel and fab up somthin, call msd,get a lower crank pulley off a 94-95 5.0l stang.it has a shallow goofy pulley for belt alignment and fab up the trigger wheel.

A good balance guy might be able to "fix" that damper...

Ive heard of getting flexplates and flywheels rebalanced, i would guess that the damper would be tougher, but not impossible
