427 Dart stroker

I am new here and from Queensland Australia.I am currently building up a 4.125 bore 4.00 stroke Dart iron block with a Scat profiled crank. It has 6.125 Manley H beam Chevy rods JE 12cc dished pistons CHI 225cc self ported heads with 58cc chambers and a Comp 261 268 @.050 cam with a valve lift of .733 and 108 lobe separation. With T&D shaft mounted 1.7 ratio rockers and Isky red zone roller lifters and Isky springs with 800 lbs at full lift. This whole combination has been worked out by John at CHI heads and is similar to the Engine Masters winning combination, but will rev to 7500 and is running 12-1 comp. It is topped of with Morrisons 8 x 52mm throtle body crossover injection manifold and M 48 Pro Motec ECU. It is all going in a highly modified 69/70 Mach 1, which I drive on the street
We are hoping for a bit over 700 HP at the engine.
I would like to attach photos but can't seem to work out how.

Sounds Nasty!!

My uncle wants me to help him build a FFR replica of an AC Cobra, and we are considering a similar build, but a little milder than yours. We'll be looking for 600 HP or so.

Re: 427 Dart stroker

I have attached a photo of the inj before I pulled it down this time. 600 hp should not be hard. The only thing I regret is not going alloy block. The iron block is very heavy. The FFR stuff is good, I am using their front adjustable wishbones with QA1 coil overs.

Re: 427 Dart stroker

That is just too cool!!

I'd like to know more about the car.

Yeah, the alloy block would be sweet in the Cobra, but the cost is hard to justify. However, he is going all out on it in almost every other way...

Re: 427 Dart stroker

The iron Dart block is a LOT heavier than a 351 W or 351C also a lot stronger. The injection was designed for Cobra replica's. Once you use inj you would never go back to carbs. on a 351C It used to idle at 750-800 rpm and get 26 mpg with a 250 @ .050 solid roller. I had a mallory 140 but it was mounted too high and cavitated, pumping air instead of fuel and melted a piston on the dyno

You better have a good suspension under that car, my motor is similar 410 inches CHI 3v's alcohol injection, sheetmetal intake, 14.2 compression, 775-757 266-274 @.050 108 sep 4.0 stroke 6.0 rod
and its cutting 60 ft's in the 1.3's off idle and bottom...bottom 6's 1/8 mile and thats the 3rd pass with transmission problems

Re: 427 Dart stroker

The trans is a special Lentech with switchable lock up 3500 rpm converter and switchable O/D. I have built a paralell 4 link with watts link with out disturbing the back seat or trim. This car is mainly drivenon the street.

Sounds good, the CHI heads are fantastic. What total timing are you running?
