Re: SCAT vs Eagle 393 crankshafts

I've run both sucessfully, but the SCAT stuff has better quality control, better machine work and Tighter tolerances. IMO.

For the few extra $$ go with the SCAT stuff, sometimes the eagle stuff is more difficult to balance, needs some attention to dimensions, Ect.

what kind of rods do you have ? unless you already have really good rods you can probly buy a kit with great compononts cheaper than buying good compononts seperate. try adperformance, they have good prices

Re: SCAT vs Eagle 393 crankshafts

I already have a set of Eagle H-beam rods that's why I'd like to save money and not buy something else to replace what I already have.

Re: SCAT vs Eagle 393 crankshafts

becouse buying a kit is like getting the value meal at mcdonalds its like buying everything els and gettind the pisons for free .

however if you have good rods , and it sounds like you do your probly better of buying the rest of the components, if you had I beams or stockers i would say scrap them and buy a kit , thats why i asked what kind of rods you have

Re: SCAT vs Eagle 393 crankshafts

I have run my Hawkins crank, broke a couple of pistons and bent a rod. Crank keeps on turning.
If i build anothe stroker i will go 408 or 418.
The stock TRW pistons even though forged are not up to the task. In my opinion.
The 408's seem to make more power and at about the same price.
I only went 393 because i had a set of stock bore 302 TRW's and a good 351w stock bore block and rods.
