I had concerns about not having a choke when I bought my carb as well. However, with flattops in that engine you should have very healthy compression which leads me to agree with dfree 383... "why do you need a choke?" I have 10:1 compression in my 424W with a BG 850 Holley with no choke, and on a 30 degree morning after not having been cranked for a week, one pump on the gas and it will fire up immediately every time!
If you don't already, you may want to just make sure that you have a good starter to turn over all that compression!
