Re: WTK: 347 Stroker, are my heads too small?

Your heads are fine with that blower..I have the same set up. You'll be pleased. But as noted above, I think your CR will be too high. Combine that with high charge temps the blower creates and you have a recipe for disaster in my opinion. You may have a difficult time maintaing head gaskets. CR should be in 8.0 to 8.5 range. I wouldn't worry about the valves too much, you should NEVER see 6000 rpms, maybe 5500 tops. Make sure to run a boost retard switch of some sort, don't want to melt pistons. It'll be a fun set up, but CR looks to be an issue.

Re: WTK: 347 Stroker, are my heads too small?

Your comments are appreciated and worries me. My cam is a Lunati cam with the specs listed below. I may be grasping for straws, but don't blower cams show lower compression readings? And if they show lower readings, are they actually lower? Another thing, I am running cometics. They are notably thinner than other gaskets.

I saw the picture you posted on the other thread... Man, you weren't kidding around! You got that thing together quick!
I don't have any experience with blowers, so I can't comment on the cam or say exactly how much compression is too much. Did you by chance consult with the techs at Weiand about how much compression is safe with the blower? What does your engine builder think?
Engine looks great, and I hope everything works out for you! Keep us posted!

That cam may not be the best for a blower, you need to talk with the manufacture. The LS looks a little to tight and you may not want one (or need one) that big at .050........

You could be correct. I read Holley's web page and learned a lot. Page 8 talks about lobe separation for gasoline street engines. It says 110 deg lobe separation is ideal. It's 12 pages and pretty informative if you have time to read it.

http://www.holley.com/data/TechServi...ech%20Info.pdf

As my engine sits down at the shop, a guy walked in today and wanted to buy it from the builder. My builder asked how much and I said between 10K-12K. I hope he doesn't bite. Although if he does I can build a 427 with a dart block. I figure with these heads I will have just under or right at 9:1. With 5 pounds of boost that will bump me up to 11.5:1 - 12.0:1. I wish I were a little lower. If I have problems I will sell my TFS heads and get a set of the new Edelbrock Pro-Port CNC heads with a bigger combustion chamber. Here is a pic I took tonight. I finished referencing the power valve on my 750 so I stuck it on for a mock up pic.
