351W Casting# question

What is this block??

O4AE-6015-AA 4

I tried searching for it, but I didn't find anything about this particular casting number. Or anything with O4AE, for that matter (it might be a 0 instead of an O, I'm not sure). Seems like the only popular ones are the '69 C9OE blocks.

I got this one for 10 bucks from a guy who deployed. With the original heads (which are rusted in the ports, I think I'll sell or scrap them), and a set of brand new headers to fit a fox mustang. But neither of us has any idea where the block came from. In the intake valley it says "351 WCP 4". It has holes in the valley, so it's a roller block, right?

I've never built an engine before. This is my first attempt. I have no parts for it yet, but I'd like to make it a 408 stroker with some nice aluminum Edelbrock heads.

Re: 351W Casting# question

Ok, I cleaned it off a little better... obviously I read it wrong. It's C4AE-6015-AA. Date code is 6J16 (meaning?) So, I assume it's a 1964 block from a full-size Ford. Problem is, I don't know anything else about it... what does the stamp "351WCP" mean? And which cars had 351s in 1964? I didn't think the Windsor came into being until later that decade. What kind of parts should I buy for it?

It Isnt a 351W with a C4 are you sure it isn't D4 or E4 ?

Roller Blocks are normaly F for the first digit.

Re: 351W Casting# question

It may be D4. It's definitelty not an E... the number is a little worn, but there's no line in the center... hence it looks like an O.

So D4AE would mean it's a '74 block, right? Is there any other way to tell if it's a roller block other than the holes in the center of the valley?

Re: 351W Casting# question

D4AE is 1974.

A 5.8L roller block is F4TE.

The first production use of the 351 (W), was availalble in model year 1969.
