Re: AFR 205 head problems
Case is made.... To date, over 700 folks from this forum have read about crappy product and crappy customer service at AFR.
If they took care of this the first instance, and not be pricks about it, that would have left 700 readers with nothing to do, except pick on FE, because he is so CHEAP...!!!

Re: AFR 205 head problems
Sorry to leave everyone hanging, been busy getting this motor back together. I recieved my heads from AFR along with a set of 1011-1 head gaskets the fire ring was still hanging over into the combustion chamber same as before. After measuring both heads I couldn't find any differance between them at all. Turned out their were two problems though. Problem #1 turned out to be that Felpro head gaskets (1011-1 & 1011-2) are not perfectly centered on the bore they are shifted slightly towards the front of the motor. Problem # 2 on my set of heads I think they machined the combustion chamber to much on the intake valve side (Wish I had another set to compare them to). This isn't a problem on the passanger side because the intake valve is located towards the front of the motor but on the drivers side the intake valve is located towards the rear of the motor causing the fire ring to hang over into the combustion chamber. I fixed the problem by installing a set of M-6051-B341 Ford motorsport 4.125 bore head gaskets (can't remember what the felpro part # is for them) they are very well priced at only $44.88 from summit for a pair. The motor has run about two hours on the motor stand without any more leaking issues. I still think it is bull$*#! that I have had to go through all of this and AFR still maintains that this is not a problem with their heads. Trying to convience them that something
could be wrong with a set of their heads is like trying to convience big tobacco that smoking causes cancer. I did learn something from this experience for all of you running Felpro 1011-2's next time you order a set use part # M-6051-A302 it is the same felpro gasket but you get a pair for only $29.88 from summit compared to $36.95 each if you order useing the 1011-2 part #. I will post some pictures tonight of the 1011-1's they sent and the big bore gaskets on the heads.
