Re: Pressure testing new motor?

That's a new one on me. How do you pressure test cylinder pressure without turning the motor over? I thought maybe you were talking about oil pressure, which is a great idea, (have you got a priming tool and an oil pressure guage?) I'm not sure what the point of pressure testing the cylinders would be, your rings aren't broke in yet.

If you don't trust your builder or your own build, then tear it down and start over...

Or just fire it up and trust!

Re: Pressure testing new motor?

My girlfriends father had me convinced I had to pressure test each cylinder, cranking it by hand, before turning it over. I wouldnt even know what kind of pressure numbers too look for?!
... I like FEandgoingbroke's coment; lets fire that bitch up!
Its only taken 2 rookie years to build this damn thing

Re: Pressure testing new motor?

Rip out the distributor, Jamb it in the hole, spint the bastage in the directions where you get the most grunt out of it, spin it for a minute or so...

The pop your Dist. back in and Fire that Biach UP~

Just in case you didn't understand those crystal clear instructions.... Remove the distributor and stick the primer in the hole till it engages the oil pump shaft..You will need to turn your drill in reverse (counterclockwise)to turn the pump in the correct direction...You will feel and hear the drag on the drill as soon as the pump starts to pump oil..I like to do this with the valve covers off and make sure all the rockers are getting oil before I crank the motor.
