Windsor or Cleveland Cam

Hi all, I'm building a 347 Boss Stroker. As the heads are Cleveland and Cleveland rockers do I use a Cleveland cam to match the heads, rockers or Windsor to match the block?
Thanks

Re: Windsor or Cleveland Cam

I would think you would want a cam for a 302(347stroked) to match your BLOCK, not a cam for a 351 Cleveland. You can go roller(kindy spendy) or go with hydraulic like Comp Cams Xtreme Energy cams for a 302.

Use a cam made for your windsor.

Re: Windsor or Cleveland Cam

You need to use a 302 or windsor cam in a 302 block ,the the fromt cam bearing and distributor gear on the cleveland cam is not the same size as the 302 or windsor . It depends on your intake as to wether you use a 351 or 302 firing order . A dual plain will need a 302 firing order a single plain don't matter .

Re: Windsor or Cleveland Cam

Firing order is dictated by the cam shaft.

Interested in why you say intake manifold makes a difference??

If you look at the dual plain intake on a windsor compared to a 302 you will see that the plains are the oboist way that is because of the firing order . Ford tried to keep the intake charges on two ajsent cylinder's on different plains so the don't rob the second one of a charge .

the intake has nothing to do with the firing order, the cam dictates the firing order!!

Re: Windsor or Cleveland Cam

Manifold runner placement is the same on 351 and 302 - they have different firing orders but the engine still uses the same cylinder pairs. The manifold doesn't make any difference.

Re: Windsor or Cleveland Cam

I think the old Boss 302 used what was basically a HiPo 289 camshaft. If you look at the numbers and multiply them out for the higher ratio rockers they're almost the same. I thought the firing order was the same also.
