Does this look right. . ?

What do u guys think. I just finished putting my heads together. Its a 347 shortblock with early style 289 heads. They got 7/16 studs with Crower 1.6 R.R. Theres some rockers that seem to be to the side of the valve tip. Will this cause any problems?

Hooooly crap... Sorry yea. real bad. You need to get another set of guide plates. If you cant find a good set that works properly then youll need a set of adjustable guide plates from ISKY. They only make a chevy set . So youll need to slot them deeper for the fords.(dremel with a carbide bit) Then after you get them alinged then they need to be welded to hold the alingment. Tig weld if possible to avoid any splatter on your heads etc (ask me how i know...)
Or you could just split your exsiting plates and weld those up. Harder to do as youd have to add a strip of steel to cover the gap.
Sigh sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I had to go through that also... What a pain.. But in the end i got it right and was much happier...
Good luck!

Yikes, Looks like trouble to me.....

Looks like a great job on the exhaust porting though.... but the centerlines of those valves need to be dead center, or you will get a lot of side load deflection. That will wear the valve guides out real fast.

Also looks like the vavle stem seals are not seated on the bosses unless they are umbrellas.

I would assume you have guide plates. The pushrods must be scraping the sides....

The only question I have is.... Was the head set up on a machine table and drill press cutting of the threads for the rocker studs?

If they did not go exactly straight in, the geometry would end up calked.

An easy way to tell, measure from center to center of each cylinders rocker stud. Each cylinder should have the same exact spacing. If they vary from stud to stud, then it was done wrong.

I don't see how any guide plate adjustments can fix that. The rockers are touching and they are off the valve stems.
you might could try some roller tip rockers that aren't so wide. Maybe some 3/8 studs and smaller rockers.

Re: Does this look right. . ?

Take the guide plates and cut them down the center. Band saw works great.

Then install them "each" on their respected stud. Adjusting them as needed to center the rocker. Tighten down the studs with sealer on the threads. When done if you want, you can hit each cut plate with a mig and tack them in one or two places.

Have done this many times.
