Does this look right. . ?

What do u guys think. I just finished putting my heads together. Its a 347 shortblock with early style 289 heads. They got 7/16 studs with Crower 1.6 R.R. Theres some rockers that seem to be to the side of the valve tip. Will this cause any problems?

Yikes, Looks like trouble to me.....

Looks like a great job on the exhaust porting though.... but the centerlines of those valves need to be dead center, or you will get a lot of side load deflection. That will wear the valve guides out real fast.

Also looks like the vavle stem seals are not seated on the bosses unless they are umbrellas.

I would assume you have guide plates. The pushrods must be scraping the sides....

The only question I have is.... Was the head set up on a machine table and drill press cutting of the threads for the rocker studs?

If they did not go exactly straight in, the geometry would end up calked.

An easy way to tell, measure from center to center of each cylinders rocker stud. Each cylinder should have the same exact spacing. If they vary from stud to stud, then it was done wrong.

Is it OK to run early 289 heads on a H.O. 302 block with a hydrualic cam?

Yes, many folks do that..... Care must be taken making sure the water passages match up properly on the deck surface.

So are you using guide plates? and did you tap the rocker stud holes yourself?

Sorry I can't provide anymore advice than what was already provided, but I'm curious what pistons you are running and what is your final compression ratio is with those early iron castings?

Re: Does this look right. . ?

ISKY adjustable guide plates solved my problem like this. Summit did a price match and I had them in a couple days.
