Re: Keithcraft engines

I have never bought one from them, but I have heard nothing but good things about them. Never heard anything bad about them. Lots of cobra kit cars running around with their motors.

Re: Keithcraft engines

I'm fairly local to KC. The only things I've ever heard bad about them were more or less personal issues, for instance the guy who told me that he "just didn't like Keith"...the way I understood it, Keith must have rubbed him wrong somehow.

I also know guys who use Jim Kuntz (Kuntz & Co)...right down the road from KC, IIRC.

I bought a short block assy from him in 1995 and never had any problems with it. I ran it hard all the time. I think at one time he was partners with Jim Kuntz.

They were partnered. The shop was called Kuntz & Craft.

Nowadays, Kuntz specializes more in high end drag racing and Craft does a lot more street type engines. Craft still does some race stuff, but the Kuntz specializes in the heads-up Super Stock, etc pieces... and is more of a 'race' shop that hasn't tried to expand, and go as "commercial" as Craft.

Re: Keithcraft engines

Brad,

Surely you can find some competent builders in Oz, can't you?? Shipping charges would be stupid, and will be tripled if you have any warranty issues (I'd be really surprised if you were not required to pay ALL shipping charges, should the need arise)

There is no black magic in building a motor. Keep the assembly clean, follow the instructions, double check everything, and you are good to go. With all the Cleveland development down there, there HAS to be a decent selection of builders.

Yeah mate there is plenty of quality engine builders in OZ.
But beleive it or not even with all the shipping, taxes, & import duties a US built engine will be 5 - 7K cheaper provided of course it doesnt have to be sent back under waranty

Thanks
Brad
