Scat Ultra Light ?

Yesterday...the October '09 issue of Engine Builder arrived...ya know the one with the kool article about Shifter Kart Engines?....

Anyway...opposite page 44...there is an advertisement for Scat Enterprises.

Under connecting rods it shows an "Ultra Light H-Beam Stroker Rod"

It apperars to have some sort of "lightening hole" just beneath the large end.

Again...kool...it also seems to have a very "smooth" profile...i.e. it looks like a killa stroker rod...

Has anyone ELSE seen these rods???

BIGJOE???

Just from that advertisement...I'm liken' 'em...but alas...nuttin' on the Scat website...

Re: Scat Ultra Light ?

I am building an engine with the rods with the hole in them as we speak. I have drilled holes in aluminum rods and heavy pistons all my life, but I never saw the manufacture do it before. It does not bother me in the least

I'm not an engine builder, but I'd go with Joe on this one (and everything else)!

Think of it this way...
A truss is not solid because it has beams that support the load in certain areas. Look at bridges as a prime example.

Re: Scat Ultra Light ?

I'm NOT worried either...I was just wondering if anyone had an opportunity to check 'em out up close & personal thats all...

Thanks Joe...

I just meant I "liked" the profile of the rod itself...I gonna order that set for the stroker ...

Thanks for the info...
