After getting my suspension together I noticed that my rear end sat an inch higher then the front so I decided to fix it.
I chose a lowering kit since my leaf springs were in good shape and could not afford to get different ones.
I purchased the kit for around $25.00 at Autozone, a local auto parts store.
To do the installation I needed to do a couple of things.
1) Put a jack under the pumpkin and proceeded to remove the nuts from the U bolts and rear shocks.
2) After removing the nuts I proceeded to remove the plate that the shocks and U bolts attach to.
3) Remove the U bolts being careful that the pumpkin doesn't move around a lot.
4) Added the blocks into position and discovered that the new U bolts that came with the kit would not fit into the attaching plate.
5) Since my original ones were not long enough once I added the blocks and no one had any in stock locally I ended up going to the local junkyard, Pick-n-Pull.
6) Proceeded to get 2 sets, $2.50 each, from a 1994 or 1997 Ford Ranger since the dimensions were the same as my original but they were longer.
7) Cleaned up and installed the U bolts, attaching plate and shocks and tightened everything up.
8) Trimmed the U bolts using a grinder with a cut off wheel since they were longer then the original ones.
9) Let the car settle and measured and we were level with the front, so it worked...
