Re: Neighborly Exhaust
I made my exhaust a simple turndown exiting out the side before the wheels. Since I used Magnaflow mufflers, at idle, it's not louder than a stock F150 with a simple exhaust upgrade. Even driving out of my neighborhood it's not loud at all. But once I put the pedal down on the street! Man, it's like the mufflers disppear.

Re: Neighborly Exhaust
Cool post for sure...My exhause is hooker super comps, 3" x-pipe, 3" bullet mufflers (long), and 2.25" tails exiting out he side before rear wheels. It doesn't really have much of a low end thump to it. It's loud no dout, but doesn't have that low powerful sound and I think that is what most people dislike; there windows shaking when you drive by. Maybe next summer I'll redo my system with a muffler that will cancel out the highs, and with 3" turn downs to let it rumble...my nieghbors think my cars loud now...

Re: Neighborly Exhaust
I got a video clip of my exhaust on my website. Look under Project Car and click on Cougar Video on top of page.

Re: Neighborly Exhaust
I don't drive my "loud" cars that often, mostly on the weekends but there were a few weeks where my mach 1 was the only car I had to drive. I started it up at 5am and drove it to work. Not any worse than the boom boom from some jackasses trunk blasting some crap hip hop, the Harley guys starting their bikes with open exhaust etc. I have a police officer who lives a few doors down with a loud Harley. Nobody really complains! If they did then I doubt anyone would respond with the officer nearby.

Re: Neighborly Exhaust
to get my 302 quiet my friend had a good idea..not sure if there is room though. the caddy 472 block used one muffler for all 8, so the plan would be to get 2 of these for mass quiet flow. i am considering doing this... i really want spin tech race one$. but my neighbors already complain w/ hookers and flowmasters.

more research will be done prior to making a decision. track and weekend cruiser soon only.. i just love how quiet the new vette is...yet it flows like heck!
maybe a vette muffler w/ automatic electric cutouts....now were talkin!

Re: Neighborly Exhaust
I just get mad when "assumptions" or "rules" are set, like "you better not buy a Harley" or "you better not have that car running past 8pm". Whatever, it makes me want to do it more then. My neighbors HATE noise and bitch about everything I do. When it was boiling hot around here, I was in the middle of putting on a roof on the garage. Because of the heat, I started legal time of 7am and because it was their vacation, I got ball breaking the entire time. I finally said that if they'd volunteer to do it mid day and not tear the shingles, be my guest. That shut em up. I cannot wait to fire my car up to hear what they say then. Everytime someone I know comes over with a noisey car, they rev the crap out of it, just for kicks. If you don't like noise, move to the county!!!
