DIY Roller Perches

i hadnt thought about the full rotation aspect, yes our pins and bearings rotate a full 360 degrees.

and they dont act like a slide hammer when they are blocked on the outside as well.

LOL didnt say that before. The way daze has his welded on sleeves they wont fall out b/c they will hit the inside of the upper arm.

great ideas and comments guys. I don't expect to have any problems with these as they are. I have spoken to at least 6 other mustang owners who have done this mod and all were done the way I did it (like Daze/Opentracker) and no one has had any problems. I do agree that if I were to do it again that I could make these even better.

The method described can and has been done, but there is a better process. I wouldn't trust the muffler tubing.

whats the better process? i would love to know so that when i get around to doing my falcons i will be set

I think you can make this better and stronger for sure. I wonder if there is any real benefit though. Rather, would it be over kill?

F15Falcon sells his own roller perches for, I believe, less than what Opentracker gets. You may want to ask how his are different. I'm inclined to believe his are just as good, and probably better than the competition.

Here are F15Falcon's perches...

The tube is machined with a step to keep the bearings from sliding inward, and the shaft has a snap ring to keep them from sliding out.

And to add, he machines the notches in the tubing instead of stressing the tubing by smashing the wall to fit the shock bolts.

I hate these roller perches, and I mean HATE. Im so pissed off right now I want to rip them out and redesign EVERYTHING.

I can NOt get my shock nuts on. It took me two hours to get my shock nuts on. I crushed the sides since the piping is so oversized if I crushed them anymore the bearings would pop out and I even used a vise. I still had to use a punch and put a depression into the side so I could get the damn nut on. the stock perches were enough of a pain to make it a half hour job of replacing one shock.

Never again will I use that kit. Im not downing anybody who makes and sells this style but it just isnt my cup of tea. When I know different options are out there
