Maybe we can get some conversation going. I was wondering if anybody but me is into the 1977-\'79 T-Birds? These are basically the same car as the \'72-up Torino, Montego, etc and have a lot of potential plus great styling. Here\'s my \'79 Heritage Edition:

That\'s not my particular interest, Jan, but I am trying to locate a 55-56 baby bird to start my next project. Not a restoration, but a driveable updated cruiser.
Funds are low starting out so it\'s gotta be a fixer upper. A tough assignment, but maybe someone here knows of a \"barn find\" or a \"deep stored\" example for cheap? I wouldn\'t mind one in boxes either.
By the way, what mill does that Heritage run?

At age 20, I bought a new 1979 T-Bird. White with green interior. Strange color combo. Nice ride, but glad I grew outta those colors. Always enjoyed the smooth ride though. First big car. Now my daily driver is a full size van, with a big family inside.

My Dad brought home a 78 T-Bird in 79 and I fell in love. The Mustang became a second fiddle ever since. That was a classy, yet sporty car. I owned a 93 and thought it fit me like a glove. Not too big, not too small.

That \'Bird has a 302 with a dazzling 145 horse, Tom. Yep, it\'s a real sled but is a sweet driving \'79 with only 88K original miles. In \'78 and \'79, the only engine option was a 351, either a W or M depending on what Ford had in stock that day. In \'77, you could get a 400 but Ford never installed 385 series motors in any T-Bird after \'76. The other \'79 I have has a 302 with a mild cam, Weiand intake and a 600 Holley VS with duals. It\'s no rocket, but if I ever get off my butt and install the 3:50 gear that I have lying around the garage, it\'ll surprise a few folks..

These cars have a decent restoration following but not that many folks seem to be interested in rodding them. Strange, since they\'re built on the Torino platform and are better looking, IMO.

As to a Baby \'Bird, I\'ll keep my eyes and ears open. I\'ve heard about a couple of \'barn finds\' around here over the past couple of years for relatively low $$$.

I've had a '77/'78/'79 T-Bird.One of each.I loved them.I also had a '79 Cougar ZR-7.Sunroof and all.Nice car.I wouldn't mind owning another.I have noticed the prices gradually going up each year.I got all of mine for less than a thousand dollars each, now,I've seen them for up to five thousand for a nice car.

not really a fan of them, but I have been known to snatch the 351's out of 'em at the junkyard. There are very few cars of any make that I like between 73-mid eighties, the styling just doesn't do it for me.
