I drive an '88 with the 5.0 H.O. (I swapped it in a couple of months ago). It's been awesome.I added an Explorer intake, headers and a good exhaust. As far as what to do,it's a matter of personal taste.I had my car painted Patriot Blue Pearl with tinted windows,20th anniversary Cougar aluminum wheels, and modified exhaust tips in the bumbper, not down under it.I also added a 2003 Bullitt Mustang billet fuel door.Mine has Mustang seats, floor shifter (factory unit from a Cougar),Turbo-Coupe front bumper,Locker rear with 3.55 gears and quadshocks,Turo-Coupe steering wheel,10 disc CD changer,Cd player in dash, tach where the clock was,and I moved the clock down into the little panel in front of my right knee next to the steering column.and I love the car. It's an outstanding vehicle, and,I got 26 MPG on the highway.I'll be glad to help in any way I can.I gave you the stats on my car in hopes it may give some ideas. There's a ton of stuff you can do with these cars.Use Mustangs,Cougars, and Mark VII Lincolns for parts.

My interior is actually in great shape,BUT,I have grey Mustang seats, and a few small cracks in the dash.Other than that It's all good. The seats match my interior and back seat,so,no-one knows they are from a mUstang unless I say something.I'm wanting a dashcap for my 'Bird. When installed, they look just like the factory dash, but will never crack. If I can help, let me out. There's nothing I haven't replaced or changed on my car.I know it very well.

It should be fairly easy to find cloth seats at a salvage yard. Most had cloth and they have held up far better than the leather...
