Re: 1980 -1982 Thunderbirds
I've got a 1982 Granada L wagon. It resembles the Cougar wagon.

Re: 1980 -1982 Thunderbirds
i want to swap a 1980 e-350 van 460/c6 into my 1980 302/c4 ford thunderbird. i am willing to sell the 302, it does run. will the bolt holes for the engine mounts be the same? are there swap kits for this? is there a more technical site devoted to engine swaps? i figured fellow thunderbirders would be my best resource.

Re: 1980 -1982 Thunderbirds
Good luck on anything that it 80-82 T-bird related...but the good news is that the 80 T-Bird is a Fox body, so if it will work on the Mustang it will typically work on the T-Bird. The problems are usually related to having enough space in regards to the firewall clearance or the center tunnel area. You should be able to get someone to post you some swap info if you post in the general tech area of this sight.

Re: 1980 -1982 Thunderbirds
i bought an 82 t bird from an auction about a month ago. whoever owned it before me was definitely a junkie and didn't give a crud about it. brought it into the shop and put about a grand down to get the engine into prime running condition. the body is straight as a whistle can be which is why i bought it. all i need is the hood ornament to get my baby shining . pictures will be posted within a couple weeks. look out...

Re: 1980 -1982 Thunderbirds
My 351C isn't streetable, too much cam, too high a stall converter, too low rear gears, plus it has block filler so it would be hard to keep cool. My advice if you want a streetable combination and run those times on motor only, go with a big block more cubic inches the better. 460+ would make tons of torque and big horsepower at lower rpms which would be more street friendly, would need less stall and gear ratio. A C-6 would do the job fine but rob power because of weight and the weight of the internal spinning parts, a well built c-4 would hold up fine and be a couple tenths of a second quicker. I run a 9-inch rear in mine but 8.8s with the right parts will work too. All the swap parts for the fox body mustangs will work for a T-bird also, headers, oil pans, motor mounts.
Good luck! If you have more questions just ask!
Roger

Re: 1980 -1982 Thunderbirds
Should fit fine, one of those tubular K members would give a lot more clearance around the headers and oil pan and make it lot easier to work on. I still have the factory crossmember in mine, I had to do a little minor trimming for clearance.
Roger is me!
