Looking at buying one of two cars - a TC or a SC

I need another driver for the family and figured, why not something fun. Looking at two cars.

(sorry I don't know the exact years)

Car #1 - from a family member a TC that was in excellent condition until the owner slid straight into a barrier last winter. Car is straight, complete, and runs great. It just needs the front bumper, grill, etc. replaced - it is already removed. I can get this car for CHEAP.

Car #2 - from a co-worker a SC in very very nice shape. He bought it for his son and soon found that the maintenance is killing him - little things like the master cylinder and the power steering cooler. He is a very picky car owner and hasn't fixed anything without using original or factory replacement parts. This is a strong runner but will run a couple - maybe three - grand.

What are these cars worth in good condition? Which would make a better daily driver? I know I can "tweak" the TC to run strong enough to be fun around town - what can be done to the SC?

I personally like the Turbo-Coupe more than the other for a few different reasons...First,it's a Fox chassis car, meaning, tons of parts from a Mustang will bolt right in.If you wish to swap to 5.0 power down the road, parts are easy to find.Second,I own an '88 T-Bird,and love it.Third, the Turbo-Coupe has a solid axle, not IRS.It aalso has a Locker rear.Mustang seats, suspension components, etc, bolt right on.The Super Coupe (the "other" one),is a great car, supercharged 3.8 V-6.Harder to modify (in my own opinion). It does have more aftermarket body mods available, though. It's just my opinion.Good luck.

Vinnie makes some good points, so I'm in agreement with his post.

If the TC is 5 speed I'd go for it, otherwise you may want to consider the SC, as the TC auto tranny is a weak point.

Basically the TC is easy to work on and only has one headgasket to repl if you get boost happy.

I would get rid my 04 Cobra for a 85 5spd TC! Aslong as it is imaculate and has low miles. I striaght LOVE that car!

...and modding the 2.3T is a piece of cake. 300 HP is no problem!

Just keep your eye out for a 5 speed car. The autos are turds.
