I just won an auction for one on eBay, $500. I'm not really sure what I'm gonna do with it, but it has the low-po 5.0 (roller cam?) and AOD, so it should be worth $500 in parts. the body looks pretty good, decent black paint and some cheap aftermarket 5 spoke alloy wheels. It needs interior door panels and the OD doesn't work, PO says the other gears work fine though. Is there an easy fix for the OD?

I don't see alot of these cars, are they kinda rare? Semi-valuable? I had thought about back-halfing it, big tubs, and a strut front end. If the body is worth something to somebody I'd rather sell it though.

While they are not that common these days, unfortunatly it doesn't make them all that valueable. Best part is they are just big Mustangs, so almost every Stang part will work or can be modified to fit(specifally exaust).

The SO 5.0 is a roller cam just like the HO, but it is a very mild grind. Also it has poor flowing heads, small throttle body, asthmatic exaust, etc. The O/D is probably a bad band. It's common to burn them up if the TV cable retainer grommet breaks...

So if you're thinkin race car or pro-streeter I'd say go for it. you'll give up 350lb to a Mustang, but you won't have a car like everyone else

I just picked up the car, turns out its an LX instead of a sport.

I need some stock 14 lb injectors if anybody has a set. The PO installed 19 lb injectors, thinking that would make it a HO motor. Needless to say, it doesn't run right.

thanks vinnie, I might take you up on that offer. The engine seems to make a sound like its knocking, I think its piston slap though. Doesn't start doing it until 3000 rpm or so, plugs are clean, and the digital gauge shows oil pressure to be more than halfway. I'm gonna put a mech gauge on it, if the pressure is good, I'm gonna assume the bottom end is still solid. Car has 178K on it. I haven't had the engine to full operating temp yet, so I don't know if it quits making the noise when its hot.

its got a good set of 19#'s in it right now. It actually doesn't run too bad. It was surging real bad at idle, and making a moaning noise. It sounded like it was coming from the alternator. I removed the belt and sure enough, worn alternator bearing. I fired it up real quick with no belt, and it held a nice clean steady idle. I think the alternator was putting out some weird voltage and it was messing up the ECU. BTW, throttle response is much improved with no belt, that stuff really soaks up some power.
