rear end

can someone tell me if my 68 tbird has 31 spline rear end???

what gear ratio would you recommend, I want more power off the line my engine was dynoed at 468 ft#'s of torque but you sure cant tell the way it comes off a dead stop. also I dont drive on the highway hardly ever, And I was told rim size has alot to do with choosing gear ratio I have 22" rims. I was thinking of using 4.11's any insight would be apreciated

The stock rear axle is a 9 3/8" version of the well known Ford 9". It most likely is a 28 spline. THe stock gears are a 2.80 ratio made for hiway cruising. You would want a 3.50 or lower ratio to help get it motivated. Check your overall tire diameter, something around 28" is close to stock, so anything smaller will help get the RPMs higher
for a quicker take off. If you decide to chenge the gear ratio, it will be very difficult to find gears for you rear axle. You could consider changing to a 9", then you will have many options.
