Could this be a deal

A local guy has two'64 T-birds in pretty rough condition. He says that one is a 428. Wanting $2k for the both of them. Is that a rare engine in a '64? Is this a deal?

I have a co-worker who is rebuilding a 64 TBird. He says a 390 was the biggest thing they put in TBirds in 64. As for the price I would personally have to see them. Have to see how much rust damage there is. That would determine if one can be rebuilt while the other serves as donor. But a restored 64 TBird is a Classy car to drive around town.

That guy is full of crap.... There was no 428 engines made until 1966.
The 5th Vin digit would have to be a Q, and it would have to be a 1966 NOT a 1964.
The '64's are wayyy better ooking than the 66's

Hey FE, What about if the 428 is placed in the car later on?

My 59 Thunderbird i have now, Had a 428 Cobra Jet in it when i bought it, Not quite original hey?
It came from a 69 Mustang, I ripped it out and got 6000$ for that engine.
