I have a fairly radical 393 in my Bird, and have had 1 5/8 shortys on it since I installed the engine. Nobody even makes 1 5/8 shortys for these MN12 series Birds, with only 1 1/2 shortys being made. I had to reroute my steering to get the shortys to fit, but knew that would allow more options in the future.
I will be adding a Vortech supercharger this Spring, so knew the shortys would be a restriction, so decided to do long tubes now. This has turned out to be almost as much work as all the other things done to the car combined....

Getting them to clear the Kmember and floor:

Getting the wiring harness out of the way:

Got them Jet Hot coated, and time to reinstall them:

I have some minor wiring to do, then tie the headers into the rest of the exhaust. The Vortech install will then start. Once the Vortech is on, and kinks worked out at 10 psi, it will get converted to E85, and the boost cranked up.
Here is what is going in:

The only things after this, will be install a roll bar, sub frame connectors, and change out the interior to black.
Then it is play time.
