Red face Disc Brake Conversion 86 T-Bird

I am converting a 86 T-Bird Turbo Coupe to 4 wheel disc brake car and using a 88 T-Bird Turbo Coupe rear end. I am lost on finding the correct Master cylinder and proportioning valve for my conversion. Do you know what I need as a direct swap out? I don’t want to cut lines and re flair them if possible. I put in a 2LB residual valve in line but my rear breaks are too soft and need more rear brake. The 88 has antilock brakes so I am unable to use its master cylinder

Re: Disc Brake Conversion 86 T-Bird

I believe you need a MC from a Disc Disc car with a wrecking yard or aftermarket Prop Valve for a Disc Disc car....

Search the yards for one maybe...

Re: Disc Brake Conversion 86 T-Bird

Ok I finished and just wanted to say the cool cats link is awesome. I did things a little different. I threw out the PV Valve and used a T-Connector for the front and put in a adjustable Valve in for the rear. I also used a 85 Towncar Master Cylinder with a 1" bore. The pedal is a little hard to push but not bad with the stock booster. If I want a lighter pedal I will use a 89 Mustang Booster and this sould give me more boost for a lighter pedal. With this setup I actually found myself with the rear valve wide open for good breaking with weight transfer. So I would start next time by gutting the spring and adding the ford cap to the rear brake side of the stock PV and useing the 85 towncar MC. And all sould be fine. If not then add the adjustable valve. The rear brake side uses the same brake line and the front side you will have to make one. You can buy a 12" line at the parts store and get an adapter for the MC side because it is larger and they do not make an adapter for the stock line fitting. Works Great now and the first one is always the hardest so the next one will be a breeze.
