remove maf sensor

some european cars they remove the maf sensor, for better performance. they replace the sensor for a resistor diode. its not environmentally frendly, but it is fast .. and u dont have the *&$^$%# intake.

i think u can do the same for the 5.0 ho's EEC ('92), but dont know how the eec computers work.

can this be done?

Re: remove maf sensor

If you remove the MAF sensors here in the stated, the computer automatically goes into a default setting.
That setting will give you more fuel to run the car (something like a running cold setting) but the performance is NOT improoved at all, ther is a horrible idle, and it's much harder to start...

Re: remove maf sensor

ok, i can beleve that. actualy, i already tryed to remove the sensor (with a cold enine) and see what happend. its not running well. nice to know the computer gives more fuel.

U have to replace it for a resistor diode, when the computer get no sign at all it will be a eninge thats dry running.

Re: remove maf sensor

This can't work. The MAF doesn't output a fixed signal. More airflow equals a higher voltage or frequency. By replacing it with a resistor you are tricking it into believing there is X amount of airflow, which kills all drivability except in the tiny window for which the resitor represents. Not only that, but Ford uses MAF to determine barometric pressure which is a huge factor in fuel delivery. Make sense? Replacing the Intake air temp sensor with a resistor is a pretty common practice though.

Re: remove maf sensor

Why don't you just downgrade to speed density... Then you won't have to worry about the MAF ever again...that is, untill you want your car to run better again...

a resistor to increase te fuel injection? dont u need a potentiometer? then u can set it to xxx ohm, and increase the fuel ratio.

i think u are right about removing the sensor, because of the airflow measurments c.q. fuel injection.

when i said before i think the computer will go in a dry run program when removing the computer. Some guys who drives on the circuit are driving in this program, becouse of the simple program, without environmentally aspects. They can change the program (dont know how..) for high performance and get a 'race program' i know u can do this with BMW.
can be done with the 5.0 eec?
