When you say "just after" you mean the Driver's side, and if so, you are saying that the needle stays between the driver's side door and the "L" on your gauge. That is not normal, just to the passenger side would be normal, but what is important is where does the needle go once the car is warmed up and running. If the needle still stays down there, try to change the oil pressure switch, it is located at the back of the Block. If you are still getting a low reading ,do an oil pressure check. How is the car driving? Do you have a 429,428, or a 390?

mines a 69 429. just had new presseure switch fitted a few weeks ago.

i would say that when the car starts the needle points about 1 o-clock, it goes up about 3/4 of the way towards 'high pressure' . not between the drivers door and 'L' more like etween the passenger door and 'L' if you understand me. when the car heats up and im driving around it just stays covering up the letter 'L' too

Try removing the oil pressure switch and checking the oil pressure with a gauge mounted in the opening for the switch. Sometimes the new switches are bad, also chech the wiring from the switch to the gauge.

Re: to all 67 68 and 69 tbird owners

when i changed the oil with a thicker/higher viscosity, my 69 thunderbird started going up to H when cold and back down to 3/4 when warm. think readings can be dependent on what type of oil you use, and if your vehicle is quart low or not. quart low and 'thin' oil can reduce the pressure and give you a lower than normal (whatever normal is) reading. wouldn't start replacing anything since you may end up replacing a working pressure gauge with a defective/wrong style.
