3.6 to HO 5.0 swap

*Pardon the subject line... I'm half asleep... it's a 3.8 not a 3.6*

Hello,

I have been on a few forums now and so far I haven't been able to find the answer to my problem really.

As it stands...

I originally bought a 95 T-bird LX with the 3.8 V6. It was great while it lasted but I started pouring money into it because of the heads. So I parked it and happened upon a 91 T-bird Sport with the HO 5.0 V8 for rather cheap.

The problem at hand is after I got the 91 I found out the rear end is nearly rusted away.

I've done some looking around and as far as I can tell there is no difference between these bodies outside of outer cosmetics. Perhaps I'm wrong... dunno.

I'm wanting to know if there will be any problems with the swap, and anything tips I might be able to get of coarse would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Re: 3.6 to HO 5.0 swap

No it should all bolt in. Make sure you swap the wiring harness and ecm. Dont expect to do this on a week end because it is going to be a little harder than that. But it can be done and it is only nuts and bolts.

Re: 3.6 to HO 5.0 swap

Cool...

I figured it was probably going to be time consuming more than anything. Also I had planned on taking the AOD out of the 91 to replace the computer controlled transmission that is in there. Will this also just bolt in?

I know this change over will take me longer than most since I intend to take some of the parts I have already bought for it off the 91, nearly brand new struts and springs on the front end. Changing those is what lead me to find out that the body mounts and shock absorber mounts on the rear end were nearly rusted away.

Any further input will also be welcomed.
