94 AOD trans

My 94 TBird trans is starting to drop out of gear. It was rebuilt about two years ago (2nd rebuild), but I have put very few miles on the car since then.

Is their a trans additive product from Lucas, or another mfg, that might help?

Where can I go to buy the product?

I really don't want to sink any money into her (144,000 miles), so if the slipping gets bad, it's wrecking yard time.

Thanks

Need more info. What gear is it dropping? How is you tv adjustment.Miracle cure only work on transmissions with hard seals. Seals wont get hard in 2 years.

Re: 94 AOD trans

Seems to be dropping out of 4th at both low and highway speeds.

Nothing like the original 3-4th shudder that a lot of these transmissions had.

Re: 94 AOD trans

I should have noted that the drop seems to be 4th to 2nd, not 4th to 3rd.

Re: 94 AOD trans

Try setting the MLPS or replacing it. That's a common problem with those trans.

Re: 94 AOD trans

whens the last time you changed the filter and fluid ??? just bought a 95 with a 4.6 and the 4r70w really cheap as the guy who owned it complained of this and a nasty vibration in it . i talked to a cuz who worked in a trans shop as their ford guy for 20 plus , and after hearing what i told him he said change the above mentioned and drive it it should clear up if it hasnt been let go too long . seems that there is a sensor in the thing somewhere that controls the lockup on the converter that gets polluted from dirty fluid and will cause it to do weird stuff . i did it and mine cleared up within a few hours . no more " hunting for a gear " or feeling like it was dropping out as you put it and the vibration which was it locking and unlocking partially . got the car for $200 though as this kid didn't know .............

Re: 94 AOD trans

I haven't done anything regarding the trans yet.

I figured that she was probably not going to pass NJ state inspection, and, if she failed and it was something major, I was going to dump her or give her to my daughter's boyfriend (he's a BMW mechanic).

So, I was shocked when she passed inspection this morning!!

145,000 miles, still on the original factory exhaust, and uses less than a quart of oil every 1,500 miles (4.6 sohc).

Except for the transmissions, these were great cars.

Unfortunately, I just noticed that the northeast winters have finally done damage. Rocker panel has rust.
