Re: my 66 428 will not burn tires

i put a c-6 in mine when i put the 410 in. the stall is a "stock" 1800 stall converter. you have to power brake to about 1200 rpm then hit the gas pedal sharply to about 3/4 throttle and at the same time start reducing pressure on the brake pedal (the car will move foreward a couple feet) and when the rear tires start to spin ever so gently add a little more brake presssure and it will hold the car in place as the rear tires start blazing. then cook the rear tires till their "well" done for any spectators. this process works for both the 3.50 and 3.00 rear gears that i swap between. also when i had the 3.50 gears in the rear the car would chirp the tires on the 1-2 shift. that was also before i swapped the exhaust manifolds for a set of fpa headers. hope this helps.

Re: my 66 428 will not burn tires

your problem is that your motor is designed for 2500 PLUS rpm's not 1200 to 4,500 like some other 428's I've encountered. Curve your dist to come all in by 2500 rpm and you will feel a LOT of increase off the line, even though you will not get a LOT of HP out of it...
