Hi guys,

I am in need of some help. I recently purchased my 71 Torino, has 351c and 2V heads backed up by a C6.

Problem is, I really don't know what to do with it, and would like some advice, as well as maybe just some 'good things to know.'

Thanks in advance,
Aaron

Everything depends on your budget and how far you want to go. Has the engine been rebuilt before? If not, how does it sound? If there are no "funny noises" and a rebuild isn't in your budget, I would just do an intake/carb swap. That, and a good rear end gear ratio should make a world of difference.
As far as carbs go, I wouldn't go any more than 600cfm on the stock cam. If you do go with a rebiuld, DON'T ditch the heads. The 2v heads are more liveable than the 4v heads. Just have the exhaust ports worked well and a real good pocket polish in the valve bowl.
I hope helped out a little. Good luck.

Cleveland_Rocks is right on the money. A good intake/carb setup, a bit of work on those 2V heads an you'll be amazed at the difference. If budget permits, go for a Pertronix unit to replace those pesky points and find a good exhaust shop that can fabricate a 2.5" exhaust system. Headers will be a problem as not many manufacturers make them for the 351C with a C6 behind it, so you might have to live with the stock manifolds. If you do decide to upgrade your cam, keep in mind that you'll have to lower or remove the oil pan to get the front cover gasket re-installed. On my '70 Torino that meant having to raise the engine so the pan would clear the crossmember. Challenging driveway job! Good luck, you're gonna have fun. Keep us informed as to progress or problems.
