what should I do??

Ok, a few days ago I was told about a 73 Torino (Gran Torino Sport) in a barn. Now being from North West Ohio, I assumed it was junk and dismissed it. Tonight I went to look at it. What I found was a very nice rust free body that had been sanded down to almost bare metal, so its a little brown in some spots. The passenger inside inner wheel tub looks like it has had some work done to it where maybe a tire damaged it years ago? The overall body is NICE! The floors are solid, the doors are mint, and it comes with a spare deck lid from a wrecked 19,000 mile Torino. The engine (Cleveland 2V/C6 auto)is locked up but complete. Even the original FORD exhaust is still on this car!! Its a bucket seat w/console car that the int. is dry but presentable, and it has the guages in the dash. Now, heres the real kicker, I can own it for $300.00 !! Yes, $300!!! The problem? It was the guys Dads and he knows of no title for the car. I told him I would be interested in it if he could get a title, I'd even pay for the paper work and his time if need be, but he wasn't too interested in playing with paperwork to get it. Now should I buy this car and try to get ANY form of title for it or just pass on it completely? I'm affraid if it sits there much longer, he's going to crush it for scrap and its WAY too nice to do that. Any ideas? I'd hate to see this car go to waste as I have engines/tranny's for it and could make it driveable for next to nothing. HELP!!!!

If your interested, and trust the guy, buy it and get a notarized bill of sale. Then file for a lost title, and you can have him sign it over.

The frame to my dads 4x4 was bought in a junkyard with no title. Dad got the lost title, tracked the guy down, and he signed it over no problem.

I'll keep that in mind. I've thought about calling the DMV and asking them about it too, I'm just not sure how much of a hassle it may all end up being. Ohio is kinda strange sometimes about stuff like that, and I don't want to make it any harder than it needs to be. Besides, I really don't "need" another project car, I've just always liked the body style and it a sgood starting point. Oh well, guess I'll have to look into it or forget about it!!
