351C 4V Carb Recomendations?

Hi Gang,

As some of you may have read already , I'm in the process of getting all the parts I need to build a 351CJ.

So far I have obtained a number of the required items for this build , but I have yet to settle on what type of Carb to use for this project.

My past dealings have all revolved around the 351W...and this is my first venture with the 351 Cleveland.

My last 351W project was in a 1988 Crown Victoria Police Package that I literally rebuilt from the ground up...that includes sanding every inch of the car , changing the paint color and the interior appointments from a base cloth bench seat with no options to a 50/50 Split Leather seat with all power options.

The 5.8L was modified with Roush Heads , Holman-Moody Cam and topped off with an Edelbrock Performer EGR intake and a Holley Carb. The exhaust was done with Mustang Shorty Headers , Hedman Hi Flow Cats , MAC Ultra-Flow Mufflers with a 2.5" pipes feeding it all.

Knowing that 4V Heads on a 351C robs low end torque...I'm lookin for a Carb that will not only be streetable and reliable...I need something prooven to give good performance results. Your opinions are definately needed here.

Lastly...the 351CJ is going to backed up with a B&M Modified C6 Transmission in place of the FMX that is already in the car at present. Having had issues with the FMX in previous cars..I'm not to say the very least keen on them. FYI...the C6 is already built and awaiting the engine projects completion.

351C 4V Carb Recomendations?

It kinda depends on what the rest of combination is gonna be -- ie. intake , cam , stall speed , gear ratio . I've been running 600 double pumpers on a couple very mild 351 - 2v motors , and they seem to like it alot . I've also got a 70 351 - 4V motor ( 11:1 ) with a Performer intake , Comp Cams 280H , 2500 stall , and a 3.00 gear . Running a 650 double pumper on that one , and it responds very well for all around street use .
With all the experiences I've had with Clevs , 750's seem to run really fat down low and lean on the top . An 850 seems to work alot better if it's gonna be a "hot" street motor .
