Gran Torino Sport weight

I assumed the car weighs about 4000 lbs. I read an article that lead me to believe the car weighed about 3500 lbs. Now I saw a program claiming a 67 Firebird weighed about 3500 lbs obviously a lighter vehicle. I looked through the factory repair manuals and saw no reference to vehicle weight.
Anyhow I'm trying to determine how tight I want the springs on the car but a 500 lb swing is a bit to compensate for. If I still had the nose on the car I could drive it to Pennsy Supply and weigh it but its not an option at the moment.

Thanks

Chuck

4000-4200 is about right, depending on what's under the hood. A big block car would be a couple hundred pounds more. Also remember if you have A/C, the old iron compressor might add other 75 pounds.

Good, just as long as I haven't lost my mind somewhere again. It's just a 351CJ with a four speed. The only options of consequence are power brakes and a radio. Would have been nicer if the manual steering ratio was a bit quicker.

I just took a 72CJ to the scrap yard I removed the wheels, and rear drums, motor & 4sptrans, most of the interior (dash stayed) hood, power steering box, misc exterior trim pieces, rad, and it weighed 2800lbs there so your looking at about 12-1400obs removed that sounds about right 4-4200
