Bench seat GT

I didn't think too much of it seeing it on one website but I actually have an original sales brochure too. From what the brochure shows and what I had read on a website, my car should have had bucket seats. As far as I know though, the bench seat in it is original. It is a GT, it has the 42 body code in the VIN. But the front seat is a bench seat. Is this something weird? Just curious.

Hmm, well this site www.fordfairlane.com says a body serial code of 42 for '68 is a Torino GT fastback with buckets, but for '69 it shows a 42 as a Torino GT with a Bench. Could be that they changed production late in '68 so a few '68's follow '69 production codes? I don't know. Anyone else have any ideas as to why that would be?

My car was built in June, so it was as late in 68 as it gets. That would be a good possibility I would say really. www.fordfairlane.com is actually where I originally saw that a 42 code 68 GT listed as standard buckets. I suppose they problaby got that info from the same brochure that I have.

I seen a '67 or '68 Torino fastback back in my old neighborhood with a 390 4 speed and factory bench seat. all original, probably still sitting in the farmers field all rusted to shat now, but it was a factory bench seat, I just don't remember if it was a GT or not....
