Hey guys, this is my first post here, im new to the forum. I've been building a 69 torino for the last year and a half or so, I rebuilt my first motor, stock 302/c4 first, did all the body work myself and documented it all on
www.houseofdula.com (check it out). I'v got a set of granada disc's for the front im about to convert those drums to. I'v been daily driving her for a few weeks to weed out all the lil issues and I've been very happy with her. But the 302 with the very mild perf. build and the 2.71: 8" rear, its no animal, but is great on the freeway and gets good mileage.
But I just scored a 460 /c6 "trade" for an '87 non running bronco II I had laying around. So im thinking about switching plans on the car being a freeway cruiser and giving it some track time. I'll get pics soon but this is what I know of it.
5000 miles on rebuild. '76 block. D8VE ported heads. Mild Cam. Comes fully dressed with accessories from carb to pan. Flat top pistons. ran on 87 octane. C6 trans recently rebuilt by race shop, shift kit, 2200 or so stall etc...He says it all runs and the trans shifted hard, the motor was in a truck that he wrecked. I plan on spending some time going through the motor and doing a full rebuild on it but keeping the good stuff.
My question is (or my main concers), I heard that a '70 torino 429 motor mounts will fit in my '69 for the 460. Is that true? Also where can I locate headers for it? will '70 429 headers work for it? Is this swap going to be a nightmare or well worth the headache. The car needs a big block but getting ahold of an FE engine is hard these days. So I figure why not slap on a 460?
