alternator help

Just bought a reman. alternator for my 74 montego, don't have the old one due to core swap so not sure about installing the new one correctly. Anyone got a wire diagram or just remember offhand how to do this the right way? 351C 2bbl, thanks

Now that I've installed the alternator and, of course, it isn't installed correctly, anybody like to help? Also have a loud squalling noise coming from somewhere around the the fan, could it be a bearing or ???? HELP PLEASE!

isnt the wiring on some type of piece of metal where you cant mix up the wiring. as for the squealing check your belt, my guess is you didnt tighten the belt enough. rule of thumb is about a 1/2 inch slack in the belt.

alternator help

well, after asking the guys where I bought the alternator from about the correct wiring (of course they didn't know) I decided to just continue trying till I got it right. Only took one more time. Running and holding charge fine now. Tightened every belt in the car up and one of them got the sqeaking noise to stop so thanks for the help there. Already stripped the old vinyl top and now it's ready to go to the paint shop to have it converted to a hard top (at least get it primed till spring)

sounds good man, but if you have loose wires go to the local yard and look for that piece that wont let you mix the wires up again. Its what I mentioned earlier about that connection that should house the wires.
