Gentlemen. I have a 68 Torino Formal Coupe that has the Montego wheel well and side trim. This is a factory original installation. I have never seen another like it. The only one that came close was a body in the wrecking yard that had the trim stripped off. Does anyone know how many of this particular trim level was made? No, the FCA does not break this down. Best regards. John--Las Vegas.
That sounds interesting. You could get the Marti report and it would tell you exactly what it was optioned with and how many others were built. Post some pictures if you can and what is the trim code?
Thank you for your reply. The trim code is 7A (original tag). I can't post pictures but the vehicle is pictured on the bottom of page 30 in the May-June 2004 issue of the Fairlaner. Best regards. John--Las Vegas.
Canadian eh, thats an interesting thought. I have a friend who lives up in NoHow, Sask. and he is an early Mustang/Torino nut. I'll check it out with him. The vehicle was sold new in Lubbock, Tx. Best regards. John--Las Vegas.
I think you are referring to body style 65C. It has the thin strip on the lower body that runs from front to rear and ties into the wheel opening moulding. The Montego had a completely different style of wheel opening. Unless you got a Montego/Comet wagon and then you had a Montego/Comet wheel opening on the front of the car and a Fairlane wheel opening at the rear. Always thought they looked so strange.
Yes, it is body style 65C. I am not familiar with the Montego/Comet wagon so I cannot comment. Mine looks quite nice tho. Thanks for the info. John--Las Vegas.
