70 Torino

I am thinking about buying this Torino from a buddy of mind. He wanted to sell me the 351C and C4 out of it. This was his dads car and the 351 was rebuilt about 4 years ago and have less than 100 miles on it before his dad became legally blind. My Buddy is not a Ford man by no means, so he called me about the engine and trans, since I was there when it was rebuilt. He told me that some kids jump in the roof of the car and caved it in, and that the passenger front fender extension was damaged by a tow truck, so if I wanted to motor and trans he would sell them to me and crush the car. To make a long story short I went to look at the car and the caved in roof can be fixed with no problem. There was were no rust through in the panels or floor (interior and carpet is out of the car), all the trim and embles are intact, the grill has the GT emble, I'll have to check the numbers to see if it is a GT car. He told me that if I am going to keep the car that I can have it for $750.00 , I think that I am going to buy it. Heres a picture of it, it was taken with my cell phone so it's not a very good pic. That's not a GT, but even if it was 750.00 would be a rip-off.

That car looks wasted!

I do not think that the engine/trans are worth 750.00. I have bought high compression big blocks with transmissions for MUCH less.

It's not as rough and the cell phone pics make it look.., I just hate to see it get crushed, it does have a 9" rear under it that his dad and I installed with the motor rebuild... well maybe I'll just buy the rear end from him and let the rest go....

I think if you could get the whole car for like $500.00 you might come out OK.

Depending on what you plan to swap the engine into, the mounts and stuff like that could be useful, as well as shift linkages, driveshaft, etc.

Is there anything left on the car that might be useable? Interior stuff, glass, sheetmetal, etc?

I think it looks pretty rough I would not give more than $300 for it . If the roof is not damaged beyond a little bondo work.

All the sheet metal except the passenger front fender is in good shape, all the glass is good, also the dash and bumpers are good. I am going to offer him $500.00, I can't find a 9" rear around here for nothing less that $225.00.
