Hi,
whenever i drive my torino, the a/c works good for a little while, but then it doesnt seem to put out as much. it has plenty of freon, what could it be?

What's the troubleshooting guide for this? Are there any links or site where I could find out how to troublshoot this?

Could be a bad expansion valve or the core is freezing up. If the core was freezing up I would think you would have reduced airflow. My 72 LTD had a bad expansion valve and every time the rpm's came up fast like kick down to pass the ac would quit, if I would stop, get out and tap on the expansion valve it would start working again. Just a thought.

Re: 1972 Gran Torino A/c trouble

I have a related question. I decided that AC wasn't in the cards for my 72 Gran Torino. I wanted a nice clean looking engine bay. So I pulled all of this stuff off. The question is this: Can anyone think of a reason to save any of this junk? I bagged it up and set it out with the trash. Pickup is Saturday. Speak by Saturday, or forever hold your peace. Parts are in Baltimore.

Having too high of pressure will also do the same . It freezes up the core then when it quits and thaws air will pass thru again.

The flow across the condensor is also paramount to your a/c cooling. Check it for bent fin's and comb them if necessary to get airflow through them.
