FPA Fitment Issues

So I got the driver side header in with no drama, but the passenger side seems to be too 'short'. My specific problem is that when the hedder is bolted to the head, the collector is touching the floor. It was so bad that I couldn't even attach the flange to the head, but a little coaxing with a pry-bar fixed that.

Has anyone had this issue, and how do I fix it?

The collector needs to come down about an half an inch, So i was wondering if there is any adjust ability in the motor mounts you guys know about.

Also, the headers are coated, so I was wondering if it would be a bad idea to apply heat to the tubes If I try to bend the collector down.

(these are the 15/8 to 13/4 stepped headers for a 351w torino/montego btw)

Thanks

man that sucks I know you paid a pretty penny for those cause I have a set of FPA's on my Torino . The coating is tough but I think it might cause a problem trying to bend them. Did you call Stan and ask him what to do I would probably do that first. As far as mine they were tight but fit fine

Re: FPA Fitment Issues

Yeah, I called Stan, but he didn't pick up. I'm kinda in a bind as I need to leave Sunday, so I have to make this passenger side header fit.

I guess I can still say the headers fit pretty well because out of the five or six full length sets I've had that specifically said it fit my app. these still fit the best.

I''m just kinda frustrated cause I paid extra just to make sure I got something that fit, and I'm still having problems.

I guess I'm just cursed

Re: FPA Fitment Issues

Update:

Well, we ended up just cutting off the collecter and putting a 2.5" pipe in filling the excess with weld. Not ideal, but it works.

I'm not super happy with the results, but I do have a "real" set of headers now.

O well
