"New" 72 Torino
Hey guys, I have a 1972 Torino Formal roof. It has the stock 302 2v (boo) in it with stock suspension and a donor C6. I got this this past spring and since I'm a starving ex-college student as of right now it's takin me some time to get enough cash to rebuild the thing. My overall goal is to make this a street car, but when I want, a car that can spin the tires with the best of them.
Currently on the list:
Cam and lifters
Upgrade shocks
Minor body work (ie. get rid of the stupid bolt-on hood scoop and get a factory gt hood, get rid of bolt-on rear spolier, minor dent in rear driver quarter panel, replace front bumper)
I'm currently building a 351 to drop in but since the cash flow is a lil slow it's taking some time especially since I have had to put a bit of money into getting this 302 on it's feet again.
Speaking of body work.... Anyone out there have a spare '72 Torino or Ranchero front bumper out there?

Re: "New" 72 Torino
Hey. Welcome to the site. Interesting that there seems to be a few new younger (25 and under) 72/73 Torino owners on the site. Never thought these cars would appeal to anyone under 40. But hey that's great. You came to the right place. A good crop of Torino fans here plus lots in the tech archive since I've written a lot of articles using these cars as my subject matter.
I'm starting my own 400 build on my 72 right now.
Good luck with yours.
Jon

Ha.... Yeah, I've always been a muscle car guy while everyone else I know wanted a ricer. I was actually looking for a Honda or Acura, something "reasonable" and reliable.... And then somehow I ended up with this.... I have no regrets though.... :-)

Yep, the stock police package shocks...that's what I went with...and I'm extremely pleased. They're inexpensive, and they work...

Re: "New" 72 Torino
Nice looking car. The spoiler and scoop don't look that bad. About those 01 crown vic police shocks, will they also fit on a 74?
Also I am 29, and I love my 74

Re: "New" 72 Torino
99.99999999% sure they will.
Go to autozone.com and look up the shocks for yours...then look up the shocks for the '01...you should see the same numbers for the standard shocks... It's amazing that Ford used the same shock since atleast the '70's.
Now the cop shocks will firm the ride up like night and day... ...less body roll out of the box...

Re: "New" 72 Torino
I will take the spoiler from you if you would like to sell it, and also those front bumper pads if you want to go for the clean look. I have a torino as well so just look up my posts and you will see some recent pictures.

Re: "New" 72 Torino
You don't want the spoiler.... The reason why I want to take it off is because, if you look closely at the side picture, the flare at the end of the right side broke off somehow. The only reason I still have it on the car is because I have no way of filling the holes. I really wish I could find another spoiler but I have been unable to find any that wouldn't look hideous on the car..... and I sorta like the look without the spoiler anyhow.
And I'm keeping the bumper pads because I tend to like them for some odd reason.... Sorry. I know you can find them on eBay all the time. I've been trying to find a decently priced bumper forever but there's always some bumper pads up there.
