Re: found '69 428scj.....i think??

Well, there's a "ken" in every group.I did know it was a goldmine...that's why it's mine. You are telling me there is market for barn finds??? That makes sence. And forgive someone who is not a hardcore car nut for not knowing what number should be on the axle..LOL!That's why I came here!!Duh. I'm extremely knowledgable in everything from antique outboards to vintage race sleds And many things in between.I Hunt treasure of the internal combustion kind and THAT's my passion. For those who are genuinely glad that I saved this from the scrap yard I have some numbers. VIN- 9H42R139451. I don't think it is a super as the tag under the coil says 418s. I am encouraged that the car is no where near as rusted as I thought it was going to be.

Re: found '69 428scj.....i think??

Could only spend an hour there earlier but I'm going back now to try and jimmy the lock. I'm not gonna say exactly how much I paid but if FE say's only $750 I'm in trouble cause I paid 4 figures. LOL!

FOUR FIGURES!!!!!

It bette have been figured like this... $1000.21 LMAO

Just kidding, it's a nice looking body style but sitting for a billion years it's only worth $500 bucks to me

But YOU'RE NOT me and YOU got a GOOD deal unless you paid more than $2,500 for it. It's going to cost you TON'S to get it in good condition... Ton's

Re: found '69 428scj.....i think??

That being said, I think I did alright. Thanks for all your help FE. Dug up the carb and rest of the air cleaner assembly today from the barn and ready to start jacking it up. I'll be signing off here for a while. Thanks again and have a good one.

Re: found '69 428scj.....i think??

Gosh, I didn't think I was being out of line...... This is a great place to ask once you get the door tag info. Be specific with him and he will give you every bit of info you need off it!

Ford Mercury Edsel Lincoln VIN Information

As far as not seeing the sense in an actual "market" for barn finds, tell that to the professional restorers who actually search for these kind of things, throw about 30K into it, then sell it for double that at these high end auctions. So, yes, there is a definate market for rotting, original iron nowadays. Between the scrappers, restorers, guys like you and me, ebay parts sellers, and local ordinances getting tough on cars that just "sit", your average 500 dollar parts car lying around turned into a 3-4K "restorable classic".
