1969 Torino value

Any of you guys and gals know what a reasonable asking price for a category "condition 4" 1969 Torinio Formal Roof, 428 CJ, Ram Air, AT, AC (pulley missing), Bucket Seats, 88K (overhauled at 57K in 1980) miles might be?
I've contacted a few of the classic car auction sites that offer valuation and the response I've had is "how much are you selling the car for?" I don't know!
I only have a couple of pictures resized--I hope they work. Yes, that's an electric fuel pump mounted under the hood. The original carburetor and fuel pump were stolen during the overhaul, Ford had a replacement carburetor but had to back order the fuel pump. In the interim my father installed the electric pump. After the correct fuel pump was installed he disconnected the electric pump but left it.
I know I'm not giving much infor on the car but it was an every day car until 1987, when I could no longer find ethyl fuel. The engine runs great, has some dings, a dent or two--but has a long crease on the driver's side. Never wrecked, I never hot rodded or raced the car, could barely afford the fuel. It's oxidizing away, has some rusting thru under the snakes and some rust on underside edge of the fender by the rear wheels. Salted roads in winter. The interior: Well, the seats (buckets were recovered in 1986, stitching doesn't match and the plastic emblems were left off) and door panels are okay but the dash, headliner, and carpets need to be replaced. Transmission needs servicing and the brakes, new in 2000, need adjustment. Oh, yeah, my folks bought it new in 1969, and gave it to me in 1975. I've had it for 33 years. In 1998, I had some of the cracked hoses replaced. It drives nice, transmission is sluggish, hasn't been driven since 2006, but is started occasionally.
Thanks for reading my post.

Re: 1969 Torino value

Hmmmmm, looks ok but having it up like that on the stands is lstreaching the frame upward... Look at the door to fender gap...

I'd say in it's current condition Ask for no more than $1,200 to $2,200...

Reason for me is. It's in poor overall condition, needs a LOT of work to be a $$$$ car, the engine was rebuilt at 57K?? That's suspicious all by it's self... Not even broke in and it got rebuilt...

Plus it was 28 years ago..... No need to mention a rebuild that way 28 years ago because it certainly will need another before too long, or seals at least......

I hope I'm not too far off the mark and get flamed by a couple dorks that don't like the way I valuate things, but I think it's pretty close.

Hope you weren't thinking you had a cash cow in the garage...

Ha!! forget what FE said...$1200-2000??...yeah right!!
You have a numbers matching 428 CJ Torino Cobra...and its a one owner/family car. All the major parts are there and it looks to be very complete.
Yes, it needs restoration, but with it being so complete, it would be a fairly easy and straight forward resto.
As it sits right now, i'd place it in the $8000 to $12000 range unrestored.
Fully restored would be in the $20000 + zone.

69 Torino Cobras dont grow on trees....esspecially the formal roof coupes.

Dont let the musclecar dealers drag you down on your price, you have a very desirable vehicle there!! Heck, I would'nt even sell it if it were mine and was in the family since new!!

Re: 1969 Torino value

Here is what I sold for $1200 last year. Basically identical to that car (when it was new). Only difference it was a Fairlane Cobra formal roof. I think it was even the same color. It was a roller and completely rotted out, plus the hard to find parts were missing. Would have been a nice car when done though - just needed someone who knows what they were doing.

Cars with the original FE engine tend to fetch what was mentioned above. Also check and see if the car still has the cast iron tailshaft on the trans as those are expensive too.

Re: 1969 Torino value

There is one just like it at speed shop been sitting for over 20 years . With motor rebuilt and tranny they are asking 10,000 and thats no body work , pans gone , carpet holding them in . As TorinoStyle2 stated , I agree . I would take no less than 10,000 for that car . Same car restored on ebay is over 26,000 . Pull the cars up on ebay and see each time one pops up . They are high with a scj

Re: 1969 Torino value

Why don't we all just compromise and take the middle path.... How about $5k? I think a numbers matching Cobra should be around there.... And for those that think that's too high, that's just a starting point, the buyer can always bargain it down....
