Pure Vision 1972 GTS in new Hot Rod Mag June 2008 issue

Just got my new issue of Hot Rod in the mail today, and didn't notice it at first, but the Pure Vision 1972 GTS was the first car in the story.

Read up on it, and seems for the most a well liked car, except for how the floor pans were modified and made for a biit of a PITA entry and exit.

My only gripe was the cover, they sort of chopped the thing off in favor of a dynacorn mustang and a GTO...but some nice shots of the car, if any of you guys did the PV Torino like I do.

Its a decent write up, but the pics in the mag dont show the car in a way that you can really see the color. They shoot it in a near full frontal position in a time of day when the sun glare is overpowering eveything else!!
We need a full side view with the sun shining directly on the paint, and not in the camera lens!!

I like the way the grill was done, cut out all the smaller cross pieces and backed it with expanded steel mesh.

I really liked that too. I've been thinking about blacking out my grill and I think that that issue just totally convinced me to do it....

The Magazine apparently doesn't know the difference between a Gran Torino and a Torino

How so? It has the correct instruments for a GTS. Other than that there isn't much left that differentiated a Torino from a GTS. Everything else that would have been different has either been modified significantly or swapped for something bigger/better (ie. the engine, tranny, wheels, and gears).

I'm not trying to say that you're wrong, I'm just curious as to what the differences would be....

Re: Pure Vision 1972 GTS in new Hot Rod Mag June 2008 issue

When Ford introduced the Gran Torino for the 1972 model year to replace the Torino model, the Torino became a low end version of the Gran Torino with a completely different front end.

I just think a Magazine doing a feature article should at least get the body type correct. They would not feature a GTO and call it a Tempest or Le Mans.

Maybe so, but I call my Gran Torino a Torino all the time.

Many people do, but there is a difference and a Magazine doing an article should note the difference.

Wait a second.... I never realized that the two had different front ends, but.... I have a Torino, not a Gran Torino, and I have the same front clip as a GT. Wha? The guy that I bought the car from has had it since new and he never did any body work to the car whatsoever. How did that happen?
