New Project!

That damn GregP and his Torino!!
I wish he would stop putting videos of that car of his on the site! LOL

Here is a pic of my new project. After I sold the 69 fairlane... I decided to search for the car that I have always wanted... a 1970 torino GT. And its even in the color I wanted... calypso! I had an opportunity to get a cobra locally that needed a complete resto... but the price was fairly steep and I want to restomod the car anyway... and doing that to a real cobra was not acceptable.

Plans are for a full strip/restoration.... a 514-521 with a TKO or one of the new 6060 six speeds. Interior will be stock except a nice NHRA roll bar. I will be doing a shock tower removal and aftermarket front clip.
It should be ready in about 2032. HAHAHA.

Re: New Project!

Damn... did you talk to my wife? Ironically... the exact same words came out of her mouth!?!?!?

LOL

The body is very solid... minor rust in the floors, but all else looks solid. This car will be a while before I get started. The stang is getting closer each day... I want to finish the stang 100% before I even start to strip the car.
When I was about 10 years old, the neighbors son (total drug induced dufus)
had a 1970 Cobra in calypso... that car never left my mind.
He beat on it until it got stolen from people he owed money to and burned in a field. One of the sadest days of my life when I was a kid.

Re: New Project!

Love the survivor appearance. Any way you'll build it from the inside out and leave the paint and body alone?

Re: New Project!

LOL... no, but the mad max thing would be kinda cool!

I've learned my lesson with restorations...
1. Have a plan.
2. Do your body work first.
3. See # 1.

Sorry didn't mean to sound like the wife..lol..That's pretty ironic about the car burning..When I was little a friend of my brothers had a brand new 70 cobra(no hideaway lights)that was orange with a black interior 429SCJ drag pack car..It mysteriously burnt in field one night as well.
